 Leather Glue (No.16)

To use, simply prep the area, apply to both surfaces, bring together with firm even pressure and hold steady until dry. A hairdryer can be used to speed drying.

Leather Filler (No.14)

Use this paste to fill small holes, scratches, pet damage and skim coat over well-prepped delaminated surfaces. It can be applied as a stucco coating using a stippling technique to render a leather grain effect. Apply in thin layers with drying between each layer.  

Repair before colouring

Will it stiffen the area?

In the world of glues and fillers, this product is classed as 'flexible'. That means that isn't stiff and brittle and can flex and stretch with a substrate that needs to flex and stretch; that is, leather. For most jobs, any stiffening effect is minor and temporary. More firming may occur on jobs where a lot of glue and filler are used.  

Adhesion

There are universal 'laws' to adhesion. Best results occur when the surface is free of loose particles, keyed by sanding, clean, dry, free of oils, silicones, waxes or any other factor that inhibits a strong bond. 

What about open seams?

For non-load bearing seams, gluing may suffice. For load bearing seams, best results are usually achieved when the opening is hand stitched and glued.
